Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Daily Llama mobile app ("Daily Llama", "we", "us") handles information. We built Daily Llama to be private by default: you can browse the entire feed without an account, and we collect as little as possible.
Operator. Daily Llama is operated by Sergey Li, an individual entrepreneur (sole proprietor), trading as Alien Minds. Contact: support@alienminds.net.
1. Information we collect
Browsing (no account)
You can read the feed without signing in. We do not create an account for you and do not collect your name, email, or contacts for browsing. Your free-read count, chosen filters, blocked authors and onboarding state are stored only on your device.
If you sign in to post
Signing in is required only if you choose to submit a link or report content. You may sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a stable, app-specific user identifier (Apple's or Google's "subject" id) which we use to attribute your submissions, apply rate limits, and let you be blocked or moderated. We do not request your name; we do not receive your email unless the provider includes it, and we do not use it for marketing.
Content you submit
When you submit a link, we fetch the public page to generate a title, image and an original short summary, and we store the link together with your user identifier and a moderation status. When you report or block content, we store that action to keep the community safe.
Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store. Subscription status is managed through our payments provider, RevenueCat. We receive whether you have an active subscription; we never receive or store your card number.
Notifications
With your permission, Daily Llama schedules a once-a-day local reminder on your device. This is generated on-device; we do not track whether you open it.
2. How we use information
- To operate the feed and personalize it to the filters you choose.
- To accept, summarize, moderate and display community submissions.
- To prevent abuse (rate limiting, reporting, blocking).
- To provide and restore your subscription.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that profile you.
3. Services we rely on
To run the app we share the minimum necessary data with:
- Apple and Google — sign-in (you authenticate directly with them).
- RevenueCat and Apple App Store — subscriptions and billing.
- Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database) — to run our backend and store the feed and submissions.
- Anthropic (via the Vercel AI Gateway) — to summarize and moderate submitted links and feed items. Only the public article content and its URL are sent for processing.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms.
4. Data retention
On-device data (free-read count, filters, blocks, your session token) remains until you delete the app or sign out. Submitted links and moderation records are retained while they are part of the feed. You can ask us to delete content you submitted and the identifier associated with it (see Contact).
5. Your choices & rights
- Browse anonymously — simply don't sign in.
- Sign out at any time in Settings, which removes your session token from the device.
- Notifications — control them in your device's system settings.
- Access or deletion — depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete your data. Contact us and we will honor applicable requests.
6. Children
Daily Llama is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the date above and, for material changes, note them in the app.
